Bray was awarded the prestigious international Purple Flag award in 2014. The award is designed to honour excellence in the appeal and management of a town or city centre area between the hours of 5pm and 5am.

Bray follows Dublin City’s Creative Quarter and Dame District and the town of Ennis in Co. Clare, as well as international hotspots like London’s Covent Garden, Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter and Liverpool City Centre in achieving the award, which is given out by the UK’s Association of Town Centre Management.

“This is a great achievement for Bray and we are delighted that the hard work between the town council, Bray Chamber of Commerce, the Gardaí, local business communities, the citizens and everyone who played a part in gaining this award,” said David Forde, District Administrator.

A key part of success for Bray centres was the partnership approach taken, according to the judges.
